Little fall essentials make the world go round
Every time I make a plan to do something important, I end up indulging in my favorite hobby, lying down. There’s usually something playing on TV or I have a Kindle or iPad in my hand. Here’s what’s been preoccupying my mind and time.
3 Body Problem - It took me a bit to get the head wrapped around this series, mostly because I refuse to use this much of my brain in the evening. I’ve really enjoyed watching Jess Hong play Jin and the fact that this is quite different from most alien-based shows and movies.
The Simpsons - My husband insisted that I needed to watch the Simpsons…from episode 1, season 1. So, we’ve started throwing it on in the background, and sometimes before bed to unwind. We’re at season 3 or 4 now, and it’s definitely worth the rewatch.
Enter Helen: The Invention of Helen Gurley Brown and the Rise of the Modern Single Woman - I recently borrowed this book from my library, thanks to the Libby app. I admire many editors-in-chief throughout history, but I’m particularly drawn to anything Cosmo. This incredible woman made it what it is today, and this was a perfect glimpse of her life, and the people around her. It was the perfect read before bed.
It’s been the most active summer that I can remember. Just when I think I get a break from the chaos, I come upon a calendar invite that I was in total denial about. As an introvert, it’s possibly the most terrible thing that could happen to me, but I’m adapting.
I’m trying my hand at growing my own herbs. My dream it to just clip what I need daily rather than buying a bunch of fresh herbs from the grocery store and letting them go to waste because no one could possibly be using up all the herbs by their expiration dates. I’m using the newest Aerogarden, and it’s been good so far. My plants are all thriving, save for my thyme. It didn’t grow, but I’m working on growing a new set of seeds.
Dan and I have taken two cooking classes so far! Aside from being a very fun and different way to spend date night, I love bringing these new recipes into the kitchen.
Just when I think my husky can’t be any more huskier, there he goes being a little awkward weirdo. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re trying to adopt another husky, and hopefully, Lemmy will have a buddy.
The second Dunkin gets its pumpkin swirl in for my iced coffees, I’m immediately in fall mode…despite the 95-degree days. I’m dreaming of the cooler days, and popping on a chunky sweater every chance I get. I’ve also had my eyes on a few fall essentials I’m hoping will find their way into my closet.
Kimchi Blue Boho Bag - I’ve seen plenty of hobo-style bags that I don’t care for, but I’ve been coming back to this one. It’s haunting my dreams with its simplistic perfection.
Cecilia Dress - A timeless wrap dress I want to wear everywhere. Check.
The Vernon Bit Hardware Loafer - I never saw myself as a loafer girl until I came across this timeless pair.
Double-Breasted Blazer - I’m in my posh, preppy era. Can’t you tell?
Two-Tone Pleated Skirt - A lady-like skirt unlike any other.
Leisure Collared Sweater - If it doesn’t have a fancy collar, then I don’t want it.
